Brief Explanation of Ethical Hacking

What is hacking? Hacking is being able to do anything that you’re not allowed or supposed to do. For example, viewing any page that you don’t have permission to view an information, using another computer that you’re not allowed to use, or even hack into a computer to gain access and control it.

There are so many different types of fields in hacking. We can mention email hacking, computer hacking, server hacking, web application hacking, etc. Any time you manage to do something you don’t have permission to, it’s called hacking. So, there are three different types of hackers:

  • The Black Hat Hackers
The black hat hacker is the one who hacks for malicious intent. This type of hacker uses their skills to steal money or data, knock a computer system offline, or even destroy them.
  • The White Hat Hackers
White hat hackers are the opposite of the black hat hackers. They are the “ethical hackers,” who use their abilities for good, ethical, and legal purposes rather than bad, unethical, and criminal purposes. Most of them are experts in compromising computer security systems. If there’s any vulnerability on the systems, these white hackers are the one who fix it.
  • The Gray Hat Hackers
Gray hat hackers are a blend of both black hat and white hat activities. Frequently, gray hat hackers will look for vulnerabilities in a system without the owner’s permission or knowledge. If problems are found, they will report them to the owner. If the owner does not respond, then sometimes the hackers will post the newly found exploit online for the world to see.
